The performance in first leg away from home (a defeat 1:0) gave Žalgiris and the packed crowd in LFF stadium some optimism but was dashed early in the game in the space of two minutes by a strong looking Sevilla side. Pablo Sarabia crossed for Nolito for an easy finish, before Aleix Vidal set up Sarabia who’s one touch shot creeped in to despite Džiugas Bartkus getting a hand to it.
Bartkus save from Nolito again as Sevilla piled on the pressure, but Žalgiris came back in to the game later on. On 35 minutes Donovan Slijngard managed to squirm the ball across the box but Liviu Antal couldn’t reach the ball. It came to Rolandas Baravykas, but his strike was blocked by Tomaš Vaclík. Just before the break Sevilla scored again as Sarabia struck expertly from outside the box.
Žalgiris came out determined in the second half and were dangerous on quick breaks. Baravykas powerfull long-range shot clipped the crossbar, while Serge Nyuadzi struck right at Vaclík from the right side of the box.
Mid-way through the half Bartkus twice saved from Luis Muriel, while Vaclík also had to be alert with strikes from Slavko Blagojevič and Domantas Šimkus.
Muriel then came close as he struck off target, but eventually Sevilla added two more. Guilherme Arana superb strike arrowed the ball in to the top corner, while Nolito found the target from the center of the box.
In added time Žalgiris hit the crossbar again throught Šimkovič, while Antal was denied by Vaclík.
