FC Žalgiris once again managed to stay just one point behind Sūduva Marijampolė, while winning a very important match against Trakai in the 30th round of A league.


Vilnius side started the game well but failed to score from a few promising chances. In the middle of the first half, Mantas Kuklys made a good cross into the penalty box for Liviu Antal, however, the header by Romanian player went a bit wide.

Fortunately, in the second half Žalgiris made a perfect counterattack and scored the only goal of the match. Vytautas Lukša sent a low cross from the right side and Darvydas Šernas, who found himself free in the penalty box, finished attack with a precise shot.

After this loss, Trakai were pushed away from the title race, as they are seven points behind Žalgiris with the three matches left.
