Forward of FC Žalgiris Darvydas Šernas waited more than three years for a chance to return to a Lithuanian national football team. His last game with national team was on October 2013 and after that Šernas didn‘t received a call from team coaches.

But return to Žalgiris offered a chance to show his skills. Although Šernas failed to score in official games this season, but he still made a positive impression with his passion and sheer work rate. Head coach of Lithuanian national team Edgaras Jankauskas invited Šernas to join national team, which this week will play against Czech Republic and England.

However in his last game against Kauno Žalgiris Šernas was hit with unlucky injury and had to leave a field in the middle of the second half. Detailed medical examination revealed a torned hamstring muscle. According chief physical therapist of Žalgiris Dainius Pavilonis, normaly it takes from 4 to 6 weeks to completely heal after such injury.

"But knowing Darvydas, I can guarantee, that he will return faster. He already has started a rehabilitation processs and will do everything to return as fast as he can," said Pavilonis.

Even without Šernas there are still five players from Žalgiris on national team roster. Defenders Egidijus Vaitkūnas, Linas Klimavičius and Rolandas Baravykas, midfielders Mantas Kuklys and Vytautas Lukša will be ready to take part in a friendly game against Czech Republic (22nd of March) and 2018th World Championship qualification game against England (26th of March).
