In the second qualification round of UEFA Champions league FK Žalgiris Vilnius will play against Kazakhstan champions FC Astana.

The first tie will be held on 12-13th of July at Vilnius, and the reverse tie will be played a week later at Astana. The distance between Vilnius and Astana cities is more than 3000 kilometers.

In this summer 56 teams from all Europe will compete for a place in UEFA Champions league tournament. Six potential opponents were announced on Monday morning: FC APOEL (Cyprus); Legia Warszawa (Poland); Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria); FC Astana (Kazakhstan); Skenderbreu Korce (Albania) and Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgia).

A year ago FC Astana started their journey to UEFA Champions league group C in the second qualification round and got past NK Maribor (Slovenia); HJK (Finland) and APOEL (Cyprus). In the group stage FC Astana played against Atletico Madrid (Spain); Benfica (Portugal) and Galatasaray (Turkey), drawing every game in home stadium. The club was eliminated after picking only four points.
