FK Žalgris Vilnius has started the new season with important victory. On Sunday evening the players lifted the record breaking fifth LFF Supercup trophy in the air, after beating FK Trakai with final result 4:1 (1:1).


The visiting team were the ones who scored first, as on 22nd minute FK Žalgiris players made a mistake in defense, letting Nerijus Valskis chip the ball over goalkeeper Armantas Vitkauskas and creating an opportunity for David Arshakian to score an easy goal.

Despite conceding first, FK Žalgiris players showed strong spirit and evened the score right before the end of the first half. During a corner kick Mamadou Mbodj passed the ball in the air to Linas Pilibaitis, who took a perfect header and scored a goal into the dressing room.

The second half was scoreless for both teams, so the game went to the additional time, during which FK Žalgiris won the match. On the 99th minute Vytautas Lukša received a blocked ball and with a strong shot put his team in front of the opponents.

On the 112th minute Elivelto, who came to the pitch after substitution, dribbled past 4 defenders before making pass to Tautvydas Eliošius, who also put the ball into the net – 3:1.

The game ended, when on 119th minute Elivelto got a perfect pass from a teammate and was left alone in front of the goalkeeper, who took a challenge to the footballer and struck him to the ground, receiving a red card. Mantas Kuklys was the one to score a penalty kick – 4:1.

It was a record breaking fifth and fourth in a row LFF Supercup title for FK Žalgiris Vilnius.
