FK Žalgiris Vilnius played a friendly match against a Polish side Wigry Suwalki and after an emotional 90 minutes finished the game with a result 1:1 (0:0).

In the first half the teams played in tough style, but with a scoreless result.
Everything changed in the second half. Although FK Žalgiris were the ones who started with an active playing style, but on the 68th minute the clubs’ defenders made a mistake in the penalty box and Bartosz Biel didn’t hesitate to score an opening goal.
Just a few moments later FK Žalgiris organized a quick counter-attack, which ended with unsuccessful Justas Lasickas shot, but Daniel Romanovskij, who showed after a substitution, corrected his team mate and evened the score – 1:1.
The game heated up at 76th minute, when after a hard foul Linas Pilibaitis was sent off because of the red card, Egidijus Vaitkūnas following his just a seconds after the incident.
Although FK Žalgiris had a few chances to take the lead, the game ended with an even result.
After the game, the head coach of FK Žalgiris Valdas Dambrauskas said that he was expecting such fighting spirit from his team and opponents for a long time.
“It was such kind of game which we were lacking for a long time now. We wanted for our opponents to play in their style, not ours. This game was hard, because we didn’t have as much ball control as we wanted.
“We had a lot of work for improvement ahead of us. We have a new defensive and midfield line. This game showed how long we have to go to reach our full potential.
“In this game I wanted to see more goals. It’s good that we evened the score right after we conceded a goal, but we had more chances, which weren’t converted into goals”, - the coach said.
