FK Žalgiris Vilnius has played the first match in preparation for a new season and beat Jagiellonia Bialystok with a late winner by Darius Kazubovičius – 1:0 (0:0).
The game has started with a cautious playing style at first, but as the minutes past by FK Žalgiris especially started to press the visitor and create chances.
The first real threat has risen on the 3rd minute of playing time, when Saulius Mikoliūnas stormed through the left side of the pitch and made a dangerous shot towards the goal.
The first half nearly ended with a disaster for the visitors as S. Mikoliūnas once again raided towards a goal and made a firing shot which nearly reached its destination, but flew next to the poster.
The second half brought a lot of changes in both teams squads and also more chances for FK Žalgiris. S. Mikoliūnas, Vytautas Lukša, Mantas Kuklys and Justas Lasickas were all near scoring an opening goal, but the defence of Jagiellonia’s team was not cracking.
Nevertheless, on the 90th minute of playing time Jorge Chula, who recovered from a severe injury, made a perfect cross, which ended with Darius Kazubovičius sending an easy header into the net.
