FK Žalgiris Vilnius started their route to 2016 season by signing two members of Lithuanian international team. Midfielder Saulius Mikoliūnas and central defender Linas Klimavičius became first newcomers of Green Whites. Champions of the country signed Nike kit deal after 3 years with Kappa also.


Mikoliūnas former Shakhtjor Soligorsk, Sevastopol, Arsenal Kyiv, Heart of Midlothian, Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas and FC Vilnius player has the third spot in the list regarding played games for Lithuanian national team. Only Andrius Skerla and Deividas Šemberas retired from football being Žalgiris Vilnius players has more caps.
 
“This club is important for everybody. I had no reasons to reject the offer from this team. I have showed my willing to be a part of this organization indeed.  I know I am experienced but I still can do a lot of things on the pitch and teach youngsters of the club in high level”, - said 31-year-old Mikoliūnas.
 
His new colleague Linas Klimavičius has showed his potential during the last couple of seasons. The defender played 11 international games and became Lithuanian vice-champions with Trakai this year. He played for Daugava Riga, Dnipropetrovsk, Kryvbas, Suduva and Ekranas earlier.
 
“It’s big honor to take over the 2nd number on my shirt from the club legends Skerla and Šemberas. I’ll do my best to prove I am worth it”, - told Klimavičius.
 
The sports director of Žalgiris Vilnius revealed that Mikoliūnas and Klimavičius could be first but not the last players from Lithuanian national team. “We are still seeking for central defender and striker”, - he admitted.
