Donovan Slijngard, who was training with Žalgiris Vilnius FC since the beginning of July and played against Dinamo Minsk this week, has reached an agreement with the club and will be able to play in UEFA Champions league match in Sweden.
D. Slijngard was born and started his career in Amsterdam, where he played in Netherland champions side Ajax FC. 27-year-old can play as a left defender or midfielder. The footballer has also played in Netherland national Under-20 team.
Having started his career in Ajax FC youth academy, he was elected as a most talented young player of the year in 2006. In 2008 he was added to first time by a request of former footballer and head-coach Marco Van Basten.
Most of his career D. Slijngard spent in Sparta Rotterdam. After a debut season in the team, which he spent on a loan-spell and played 24 matches, footballer then played 140 games and scored two goals.
In 2014 defender returned to the first “Eredivisie” division to Cambuur FC, where he played alongside Lithuanian national team’s defender Vytautas Andriuškevičius.
D. Slijngard is training with Žalgiris Vilnius FC since the beginning of July. He will were the shirt with 23rd number.
