Žalgiris signed contract to Lithuanian national football team midfielder Linas Pilibaitis.


28 years old player arrived from Hungary to Lithuanian champions.


He was loaned to Mezokovesd from Gyori ETO in the second half of 2013. Midfielder scored 1 goal in 11 matches.
 

„L.Pilibaitis was one of priority of winter transfers window. We are very happy that he joined to Žalgiris family.
 

Linas‘ transition to Lithuanian champions slightly delayed because he had contract to Gyori ETO until summer.
 

We are happy that contract was broken with Hungarian team successfully and he became a member of our team“, - said Žalgiris sports director Mindaugas Nikoličius.
 

He thinks that midfielder will be one of the main players of the team.
 

„L.Pilibaitis is very important player to us. We hope that he will became one of the leaders of team.
 

Linas has a character of fighter and can lead team to forward.
 

We hope that he controll the speed of the game and will be an important figure in Žalgiris.
 

We expect that he will return to Lithuanian national team when he plays in Lithuanian champions club“, - added M.Nikoličius.
 

Žalgiris newcomer played 27 matches in Lithuanian national team, 9 – in U-19, 6 – in U-21 teams.
 

Wearing yellow and green t-shirts he play against strong opponents – Bosnia and Hercegovina, Russia, France, Czech Republic, Scotland, Serbia, Romania.
 

L.Pilibaitis began his professional career in FBK Kaunas. He debuted in main team when he was 17 years old. After few years midfielder became one of the most important players of FBK Kaunas.
 

L.Pilibaitis 4 times became the champions of Lithuania, 3 times won LFF Cup and LFF Supercup in FBK Kaunas.
 

He was loaned to Atlantas Klaipėda, 2004 and played shortly in Hearts Edinburgh, 2007.
 

Midfielder successfuly played in UEFA Champions League qualification round when he played in FBK Kaunas. 2008 he scored 5 goal and helped the club enter to third qualification round of tournament.
 

L.Pilibaitis scored 4 goal to Santa Coloma (Andorra) gate. His goal by head began to eliminate Scottish grandee Glasgow Ranger from European Tournaments.
 

After successful performance in Europe Žalgiris newcomer began to play in Hungarian club Gyori ETO. He played 92 matches and scored 7 goal during 4 seasons.
 

2012 – 2013 season midfielder became champion of Hungary.
